- A mill, moulin de St
Chels : www.moulin.fr.st
The windmill is situated in the
Lot "Département" in the north of the "Midi-Pyrenees"
region. It is in the heart
of the Quercy Limestone plateau, in the region of Cajarc and
Figeac, where since prehistoric times man has left his
traces of existance such as in the caves of Peche -Merle at
Caberets where one can find rock paintings.
The name Quercy comes from the
latin Qurcus (Oak), name of the people who inhabited this
region when the Romans invaded. Quercy is an ancient
province which covered the department of Lot as well as the
northern part of the "Départment" - Lot et Garonne
above the river Garonne.
It is a welcoming land where one
lives according to the rhythm of the day, in an expanse of a
preserved natural environment, with large, calm and silent
spaces, punctuated by impressive valleys and cliffs which
line the rivers.
